What inspired Muesli Matters.?

In 2014, two things came together for me that provided the      inspiration for the Muesli Matters. concept:

  • First and foremost, having done fieldwork in the developing world for several years, I quickly realized not only how fortunate I indeed am but also how its the little things that have the biggest impacts.  What little things?  A fish pond, a livestock enclosure, an empowering women's group or a small children's garden for example.  Little by little, with the best intentions and motivation, impacts can be made... and now.  So why not stop waiting for someone else and simply just try

  • Then there is the appreciation of muesli: simple yet amazingly delicious and satisfying.  This recently developed after abandoning my search for a favourite muesli at the grocery store and instead starting to mix at home; it was impossible to find one muesli package where I liked all the ingredients (what are those little bright orange cubes of sugary fakeness?!).  A bowl of oats topped with hazelnuts, almonds, dates, raisins are a perfect start to any day- especially on those days that are dreary  and wet...it's time to share the muesli love !

So, in the end, Muesli Matters. combines the two:  people can now enjoy their favourite muesli mix with ingredients they themselves custom pick while the profits will go towards vital development projects.  Your packaged orders can be picked up or posted, the choice is yours.

What projects will be supported?

All profits will go towards initiatives in two rural upland villages in Northern Lao P.D.R; a strong foundation has already been built in these two villages from past fieldwork and farmers themselves have identified what projects would be of most benefit to them.  This is very much a learn-as-you-go process!

The two villages are very dear to Muesli Matters. ;  they are among the most generous and compassionate peoples and are honestly deserving of any help they may receive.
